Biography

Rehaf Al Batenji
Palestinian visual artist and photographer from Gaza, currently based in Marseille, France. After her residency at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, she joined Beaux-Arts de Marseille for a new residency, while preparing to begin a Master’s in Photography in September 2025.
Her work explores themes of memory, displacement, and personal archives, with a focus on everyday life under siege. Her ongoing project, Original Copy (2), examines how photographs become urgent documents of existence in Gaza. Recent exhibitions include FRAC Metz, Tasweer Photo Festival in Doha (2025), the A.M. Qattan Foundation in Ramallah, and her solo show Unsent Postcards from Gaza at the French Institute in Cairo (2024).
She also participated in the 2024 Venice Biennale’s When Solidarity is Not a Metaphor and What Palestine Brings to the World at the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris.
Her work has been featured in Le Monde diplomatique, Libération, and supported by institutions including the Goethe Institute, Kamel Lazaar Foundation, and Gulf Photo Plus. A founding member of the Gaza-based collective Dahaleez, she has spent over a decade teaching photography to young people in Gaza.
